Strike One Gregory J Holmes Scholarship

Coaches can make all the difference. Some make an impact for a day, a month or a year. Others a lifetime. That impact gets amplified when the coach’s message is embraced by others.

At Strike One, we remember the coaches who made all the difference for us, those still with us, and those who are not.

To honor my first coach, who made the biggest impact, we are offering a Strike One Scholarship this winter to an athlete who embraces these messages from our Coach.

  • Hard work is a virtue.
  • Treat all teammates with respect, no matter what the role.
  • Listen to all, great ideas can come from anywhere.
  • If you’re going to do something, do it right.

We want to hear your story. Tell us why one or more of these messages means something to you and how it has influenced—or could influence—you as a baseball player and as a person in your own words.

Tell us about a coach, teammate, experience, failure, success, or lesson that helped you understand why this message matters. We want to hear your perspective, your experiences and what these values mean to you.

Submissions can be written or spoken (through video). Keep is simple- 250-500 words written, or a 30-60 second video. There is no advantage for one over the other. Do what feels best for you to tell us your message.

Be authentic. Be thoughtful. And tell us something that is meaningful to you.

It doesn't need to be polished. It doesn't need to be perfect. It just needs to be you.

Entries will be reviewed anonymously by a panel of judges
